Dungarvan Sensei Mulcahy & O'Deá on the way to Nuremberg.

Sensei Brian Mulcahy and Sensei Ciarán O'Deá will be heading to Nuremberg on Friday the 1st of April to compete in the SKUN European championships. Brian & Ciaran has been studying shotokan ryu since 1986 -1989, they're dedicated to insuring the future of Dungarvan karate club.Members of Dungarvan karate club will have the opportunity to train,compete and grade internationally.We hope in the future Dungarvan will have more Ireland representatives.keep training.  

How better to motivate your students than setting an example.We teach ,explain and have a no nonsense approach to Karate.If it doesn't work for use we wont teach it.We both are very competitive and we have a club saying  that we use when things get tough," If they want it ,give it to them".This means we will do your best whether its grading ,competitions or training we will keep going.This is the way we train our students and this is why Dungarvan karate club is well regarded where ever we go. Dungarvan karate club give our students confidence, self esteem and pride in there achievements.This from a self defense aspect gives the Dungarvan students choices on how to deal with situations.
Great work being done preparing for grading,the standard is relay picking up.We have another few weeks to relay sharpen our skill and we need to be training twice a week.Home practice is very important and we hope that everyone is practicing.Grading is toward the end of April.

All Ireland competition, club tops and Grading.

Hi all Dungarvan karate club will be attending the IJKA all Ireland in Cork on Sunday 20th March,its a great opportunity to gain experience and meet other people with the same interest.

Following on from the success of last years Munster Open Championship, Passage West karate Club will again host this year's Championship.
Venue : National Maritime College of Ireland, Ringadkiddy, Co. Cork.
Date: Sunday 20th March 2016.
Registration: 10am
K.O: 11am
Fee: €20 individual entry fee - (covers both kata & kumite).
Team events €15. 

The proceeds from the tournament will be used to assist club members selected to represent Ireland at this years SKDUN European Championship, which takes place in Nuremberg, Germany on 1st - 3rd April. 
Rules: Standard Shobu Ippon rules will apply.

Club Jackets & Grading
Dungarvan club grading will be taking place o the Saturday the 23rd of April in the Fusion center.Grading will begin at 10am until finish.This give all the members plenty of time to perfect there Shotokan ryu karate skills. Sensei Ciaran,Brian believe to develop your karate skills it is time to start  training twice a week.

Club jackets can be ordered and paid before or after training,the jackets are of a high quality.All children jackets have reflective tape on the sleeves. The jackets have Japanese script on the back which is kato Sensei own writing with says "Shu-bu-kan".The name was give to the club by Kato Sensei for our strong spirit and your Budo philosophy. Shu-bu-kan means place of martial arts.On the front is the club crest which was designed by Sensei Brian.In the center you will see the shotokan tiger which represents your style of Karate-do. 
Childrens jackets €35, Adults €56. payment is in advance.
